Maintaining Program, Plan, and Subplan Data for a Student
You can use
the Student Program/Plan (ACAD_PLAN) component to make changes to the following
student data:
• Academic
program
• Academic
plan
• Academic
subplan
• Graduation
status
Using
the Student Program/Plan Component
You can use
the Student Program/Plan component to change a student's program, plan, and
subplan information.
You can also track changes such as leave of absence, delay in enrollment, and
graduation.
Maintaining
Academic Program or Academic Plan Changes
When students
change their academic program or academic plan, you insert a new effective
dated row and select a
value of Program Change or Plan Change in the Program Action
field. If you enter new data over the existing
information (without inserting a new row), you lose the audit trail of the
previous program or plan.
Remember
that when the new row of data is inserted, the system copies the existing
program and plan information
into that row. To make the update, enter the new program or plan data over the
copied information
(in the new row).
Program
Actions
When you
carry out program actions to change a student's program data, the corresponding
program action status
often changes.

academic career.
Describing
Drops, Withdrawals, and Cancellations
Drop:
• A drop
action removes one or more classes from a student's enrollment.
For
example, a student is enrolled in five classes and decides to drop two.
• The drop
can result in penalty grades, depending on how the academic calendar (for the
class or session)
has been
defined and the date of the drop.
• Dropped
classes are subject to financial adjustments based on rules that are set in
PeopleSoft Student
Financials
on the adjustment calendar.
Withdrawal:
• A student
is withdrawn from all class enrollment for a specified term or session.
• Posting a
student's term withdrawal request refunds the student's fees according to the
adjustment calendar that is
associated with the student's tuition group.
• Depending
on the date of withdrawal and dates on the academic calendar, a withdrawal can
result in penalty grades.
Cancellation:
• All of a
student's class enrollments for the specified term or session are cancelled.
• Posting a
student's term cancellation request refunds 100 percent of the fees.
• A
cancellation, regardless of the action date, never results in a penalty grade.
Processing
Withdrawals and Cancellations
You can
enter and post withdrawals or cancellations for a term or session on a
student-by-student basis through the
Student Records Term Withdrawal COBOL/SQL process (SRPCWDPR). When you withdraw
or cancel a
student from a term, the process performs a series of session withdrawals or
cancellations to complete
the term withdrawal or cancellation.
