Campus Solution Security

PeopleSoft Security Overview
The security approach used by PeopleSoft applications is designed for the internet. It enables you to easily create and maintain security definitions and to perform many maintenance tasks programmatically.

PeopleSoft Security Assignment Levels
A security definition is a collection of related security attributes that you create using the PeopleSoft PeopleTools Security application. The PeopleSoft security definition types are:

• User profiles.
• Roles.
• Permission lists.

Levels of Academic Structure Security
For every user in your system, you can define academic structure access for any or all of these levels:

• Institution
• Career
• Program
• Plan

System Processing Order
When a user attempts to access a page, the system checks the following items in this order:

1. User's permission list (which is assigned to the user by means of a role).
2. Security view for the component.
3. User's academic structure security.

Campus Community
The PeopleSoft Campus Community application has an additional layer of security setup that assigns access to:

• 3C groups.
• Service indicators.
• Demographic Data Access (DDA).
• Student Groups.
• Population Update Security.
• Population Selection

3C Groups
You can select which 3C groups user IDs can view and update.

Service Indicators
You can define which service indicators a user can access, as well as how each service indicator can be used.

Demographic Data Access (DDA)
With DDA security, you can mask the appearance of national ID and birth date data in search records and prompt records and on the Bio/Demo Data and the Relationships pages if these pages have display-only security.

To apply DDA security, you define masking configurations for all primary permission lists and assign a primary permission list to each user ID as part of each user's profile.

Student Groups
Student groups enable you to define groups of similar students at a high level, such as athletes, student body officers, or honor students.

Population Update Security
The Population Update Security page is used to set user security for accessing records to update using the Population Selection update process.

Population Selection
Population Selection is a Campus Community functionality which allows user to select IDs based on their own criteria.

Recruiting and Admissions
The PeopleSoft Recruiting and Admissions application has an additional layer of security setup that assigns access to:

• Recruiting and application centers.
• Admissions actions.
• Test IDs.

Recruiting and Application Center Security
You secure prospect data through the recruiting center, and you secure applicant data through the application center.

Admission Action Security
You can determine and assign the admissions program actions that a user ID can access.

Test ID Security
User ID-based security for test IDs now ensures that users access and process only the test data for which they have permission.

• SetIDs
• Business units
