User Profile
A user
profile is a uniquely named user of the PeopleSoft system who can sign on to
the system to perform tasks. A user can be an employee, a manager, a customer,
a contractor, a supplier, and so on.
Permission List
A
permission list is the set of specific authorizations needed to carry out a
business task or set of tasks. A user profile inherits most of its permissions
through roles, but you apply some permission lists, such as process profile or
row-level security (data permissions), directly to a user profile.
Role
A
role can be thought of as a named set of work that a user can do. A role’s properties include name,
description, the list of users assigned, authorizations, and so on.
Example: employee role, manager role, payroll
role etc.
